Webhook/Push Notification

For many enterprise clients, integrations into existing systems are a crucial part of their appointments and events strategy. Data in BookingBug is highly useful for a range of downstream processes including building a single customer view in a CRM system, coordinating marketing efforts, sending booking related comms to customers – the use cases are vast and differ by client and industry.

BookingBug has an existing push notification service that sends a JSON block data to an HTTP endpoint for clients to consume. The following push notification triggers exist as standard:

Booking created
Booking amended/moved to a different date/time
Booking cancelled

Setup & config

As a prerequisite, the client will need to configure an https API endpoint for BookingBug data to be sent to.

Within BookingBug you can configure the following attributes within Advanced Settings > API Settings

Settings:

Booking callback Notification URL
Cancellation callback Notification URL
Basic auth username
Basic auth password

Once this is configured you can make test bookings and check that data is hitting the configured endpoints. One great way of testing this is using an online HTTP request service such as putsreq, requestbin to name a few.

If you are not receiving notifications at this point, check for error messages. A common failure point is SSL certificates. For other issues, please speak with your BookingBug implementation manager.

Note that if you have only configured a Booking Callback Notification URL then all notifications will be sent there (including update & cancellations).
